Mission

The Shalom Hartman Institute is a leading center of Jewish thought and education, serving Israel and North America. Our mission is to strengthen Jewish peoplehood, identity and pluralism, enhance the Jewish and democratic character of Israel, and ensure that Judaism is a compelling force for good in the 21st century.

We foster inspired, pluralistic Jewish life in Israel and North America by supporting and training outstanding scholars and thought leaders to address the challenges facing the Jewish world through applied scholarship and broad dissemination of their ideas; developing innovative educational programs for change agents in Israel and North America who apply educational tools and frameworks to enrich their communities; and addressing public communities directly through online and traditional media platforms, publications, and public events across North America and Israel.
